Some TV newsies are weighing in a stories they saw yesterday on FTVLive:
In regards to the “BUTT OUT?” story:
Aloha Scott,
I've been in the business for close to 15 years now. I've seen reporters, producers, and photogs all share some things on social media that have all left me scratching my head. More often than not, it's ended with a trip to the ND office, maybe a few forced vacation days, and then we move on.
I have to admit I'm baffled at the decision to terminate a reporter for posting a picture of herself in a bikini. There is nothing in that picture that wouldn't be visible at a beach. Newsgatherers all the time defend their right to work in public, and that anything in public is fair game. It seems heavily hypocritical to chastise (and potentially terminate) a woman for simply posing in a swimsuit she'd wear to a local pool for all the world to see (and photograph).
Would the same have been done if it were a man in swim trunks? Or even a speedo?
In regards to the CNN “IS THAT REALLY EXPOSING THEM?” story:
Here’s the issue about them - you know what a TD does. I know what a TD does.
O’Keefe knows what a TD does and what their role is in creating overall content mission for a network.
And you know what?It doesn’t mean a thing, because this isn’t for us who are in or were in media. It’s for the Trump base which doesn’t get it and they can create misleading and lying headlines like CNN DIRECTOR EXPOSED (which is one I saw yesterday).
Also, many conservatives spent yesterday screaming Trump can now sue CNN for defamation.
So basically, for Veritas, mission accomplished.
They got the base riled up even though this is like the 19th time he’s said I AM TAKING CNN OFF THE AIR and he delivered what we know to be absolutely nothing. But the clueless ones hang on every word, and that’s what he needs to stay relevant.
In regards to the “SINCLAIR STATION STRUGGLES TO KEEP EMPLOYEES” story:
Scott,
This same scenario is being played out at Sinclair stations around the country.
Thanks for all you do.
