Grammys Ratings Sink to All-Time Low

On the heels of a very low rated Emmys, the Grammys also hit a new low.

Sunday night’s broadcast on CBS averaged a record-low 8.8 million viewers.

It was up from the Emmys which brought in only just over 6 million viewers, but the Grammys ratings were down over 50% from last year.

Many say that the pandemic and the lack of a live audience is what is killing the ratings. Maybe awards shows have just run their course.

TV award shows and special events have seen a drop off since the start of the pandemic. Sports ratings are also down in many areas.

Streaming subscriptions are up, as more people want to watch TV on their schedule.

The one area that has seen an increase for broadcast and cable stations since the pandemic has started is TV news.

This should tell station owners that the money they invest needs to be in local news and programming.

TV habits are changing and news should be where stations invest their money.
