Chicago Anchor Tweets and Deletes

Longtime WGN (Chicago) Sports Anchor Dan Roan came under fire this week after he referred to a Michigan State basketball player as a “thug.”

Roan, who has been at the Nexstar station for nearly 4 decades, was referring to Michigan State center Mady Sissoko in his post.

Many commented on Twitter about Roan using the term “Thug” to describe Sissoko. a couple of hours later, Roan deleted the tweet and issued this apology.

Just this past week, FTVLive has told you that a DC anchor has been suspended for posting a tweet that was fat-shamming. We told you about a Vegas Anchor that bragged on Twitter about jumping the COVID vaccine line and then later deleted the post.

And now, you have a longtime Chicago anchor also under-fire for a post to Twitter.

While TV managers and consultants continue to push their employees to post social media content, you have to wonder if it is really worth it.

I can assure you, more people in TV news have gotten in trouble or lost their job due to posts on social media. I don’t know anyone that has been hired because of their Twitter feed.

Just saying….
