This is one FTVLive’s reader’s take on this story from yesterday:

Email:

She is way off. What she is suggesting is PR suicide for stations.

No matter how much of an asshole a viewer is, you have to remain professional. If anything, it can defuse the situation. Her method could start a significant online war and damage the station's reputation (Unless you are Tegna or Sinclair, in which case you have little to lose).

If you want to cause problems, use your personal account. Never use the station branded account to "stir the pot".

Needless to say, many stations still haven't figured out how to properly use social media. Doing TikTok dances and selfies isn't the way. It should be used as another means to bring news to the masses, such as producing micro-video stories for TikTok or promoting what is coming up on the next newscast.

This FTVLiver reader thinks Apollo might be dropping the ball in O-Town:

Email:

Scott,

I do not pretend to suggest you do not already know this. Deneige Broom, who does the morning traffic and does some fill in anchoring at WFTV Ch. 9 in Orlando, is moving on to WSOC-TV in Charlotte as a full time anchor (last day Jan 7th at WFTV).

After Nancy Alverez left, Apollo brought in Kirstin Delgado as a replacement. No one can blame Ms. Broom for taking a better job, but I refer to the numerous Facebook comments from viewers. They are ticked that another morning personality is leaving and think Ms. Broom should have been promoted. Many comments that it is time to switch stations. They do not like their "morning family" being dispersed.

I do not have a dog in that fight, but it does make me wonder if the Apollo approach is screwing things up. I have always been skeptical since they took over more than two years ago now. Lots of familiar faces gone (Martie Salt, Jorge Estevez, Raquel Asa, Jamie Holmes, Alvarez, and now Broom. Weatherman Brian Shields left temporarily).

Some attrition is normal, but I remain dubious.

Email:

Scott,

I know you posted a few weeks back that you were homeless. Can you update the situation?

Response:

I will be doing that very soon.
