Is This The Beginning?
Well, you sort of expected this to happen and now it looks like it is….
Through a complex LMA and SSA agreement. Sinclair-owned WJAC (Altoona) was producing a live local newscast for WATM WJAC produces the news for WATM in both the AM and at 11 PM.
WATM is now running a promo that starting Nov. 15th the station will start airing Sinclair’s national newscast from its The National Desk.
So, viewers watching the ABC station in Johnston, Altoona will not be getting a local newscast, but will instead be watching Sinclair’s National Desk.
Also starting Nov. 15th, Fox-affiliated WWCP in the same market will also begin airing The National Desk instead of local news.
Some Sinclair employees that reached out to FTVLive wonder if this is the start of Sinclair doing this at more of their stations across the country.
Think about how much money Sinclair will save if it replaces local news with this?
Stay tuned….
