FTVLive FIRST told you in a Patron Only story, that Gray Television was going to start making GM changes at a number of the Meredith stations. Right on cue, Gray did that yesterday.

One of the announcements included changing the GM at Meredith KPHO/KTVK in Phoenix.

Out is Kevin James and incomes Debbie Bush.

Bush comes from WXIX in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a former News Director. This was a solid move by Gray and we expect Bush to make the Duop in Phoenix much better.

Bush also worked in Tucson, so she has an understanding of desert life.

I think the people that care about journalism at KPHO/KTVK will be really happy to work under Debbie Bush.

As for James?

Judging by a post he made to his LinkedIn over the weekend, he knew what was coming.

James was a sales guy that worked his way up to GM at KPHO/KTVK.

Bush is a former news person that is now the GM.

I have said on here many times, I would much rather work for a former News Director than a sales person.

Also, hat tip to Gray for hiring a woman for the job. FTVLive has been a big proponent of more women in the corner offices and it is good to see that Gray has done that in Phoenix.
