Maybe You Guys Can Answer This?
I got this email and does defiantly seems to be a thing.
I have seen this done by a number of Anchors and have also wondered about it.
Here’s the email, my thoughts on the other side:
“Why are more and more of these anchors streaming themselves on their phones while doing the news? Why does management allow that? Tamara Sacharczyk from WJAR @tamaranews has 269,000 TikTok followers and obviously is doing a show for them, why would we need to watch her on tv? She sets up her phone on a water bottle visible in every shot for the complete hour. Not to mention when she isn't live she is doing dance videos during commercial breaks in the studio.”
I have seen WTTG Anchor Angie Goff do this as well on her Facebook live, along with other Anchors.
If the goal of the station is to get viewers to watch the newscasts, why have your talent streaming the very same newscasts to social media?
Obviously, when the newscast goes to break, we are still seeing the anchors sitting behind the set talking during the break. Are the advertisers of the newscasts happy to see this? If people are watching the live stream from the Anchor’s phone they are not seeing the ad spots.
Why does it appear that station management is okay with this?
Does anyone want to try and answer this?
