Nexstar Should Do This...
This week Nexstar announced that they were going to rebrand WGN America to NewsNation.
They also announced that they were expanding their programs in the evening and night.
But, FTVLive believes that they could make a simple move to add 6 more hours of programming to their lineup.
The new NewsNation should fill the mornings by simulcasting The WGN Morning News out of Chicago.
The show gives the news, is entertaining and it would give Nexstar a 6-hour morning block that they don’t have.
Right now, WGN America is filling that time with infomercials and old episodes of JAG.
WGN could just rebrand their morning newscast as “The Morning News” dropping the WGN and it will play in Chicago and across the country on NewsNation.
They could add some local hits from Nexstar stations around the country and move the morning newscast to more of a national feel, without losing their Chicago roots.
That’s my idea and Nexstar went with FTVLIve’s Ashleigh Banfield suggestion last time, so we thought we would give them another great idea.
Of course, they never do thank us, which is kind of a bummer.
