Larry King is Dead

For years, Larry King was a fixture on CNN and by far and away its biggest draw.

The radio talk show host was given a show on the cable news network and it is there that he became a legend.

King would bring on the biggest names and lob them easy questions and viewers would love it. For years, King was the king of cable TV.

Yesterday, it was announced that Larry King was dead.

After leaving CNN, King lived in the world of infomercials. It seemed there was anything he wouldn’t pitch. But, during his long run at CNN, King was a ratings juggernaut.

In the end, it appears the coronavirus is what killed the talk show legend. He was in the ICU at LA’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and although he was transferred out of ICU earlier this month, he never left the hospital before dying.

When CNN not so subtlety pushed Larry King out the door, he was replaced with Piers Morgan, who could never come close to filling the shoes of the king.

When word came down that Larry King had passed away, it typical Piers Morgan fashion, he tried to make the news all about himself.

There was no doubt that even as he was wrapping up at CNN, Larry King had lost a step or two when it came to doing interviews.

But, even then it was great TV, like this exchange with Jerry Seinfeld after he wrapped up his hit show on NBC.
