COVID Continues to Spread Rapidly
Remember when the United States hit 100,000 cases of the coronavirus and what a big deal that was. Remember when Donald Trump said we were looking at possibly 50,000 deaths from the virus before the pandemic was over.
Well, less than two weeks into the New Year, over 3 million cases of COVID have been reported in 2021. The total number of cases has topped 23 million.
Almost 400,000 people have died from the virus and more are being added to that total every day.
Trump abandoned doing anything about the virus months ago.
The vaccine rollout is going awful and at the rate, we are currently at, it will take years to get most people the vaccine.
Yesterday, I had to go to the bank to get a check endorsed by my bank. I was in the bank for almost 45 minutes as the process took much longer than it should have.
This is the longest time I have sat in a public setting since February of last year. I had my mask on the entire time, but I still felt that I was risking possible exposure. I was uncomfortable, but at the same time, it was business I needed to attend to.
One of the people I was dealing with was telling me how he just got back from a trip to Las Vegas.
Here I am thinking, “this guy is bragging about his trip, and he seems to have no concerns with the pandemic.”
We are coming up on nearly a year of the COVID pandemic and the best case estimate says we still have months to go.
I know many of you are bored of reporting on the pandemic, but you need to keep telling that story. As I head to the store, fewer and fewer people are wearing masks.
Please continue to tell the story and try and help keep people safe.
