News Nation Loses Half Their Audience in 3 Days
It looks like the new has already fallen off Nexstar’s News Nation.
The Nexstar cable newscast debuted last Tuesday on WGN America and by Thursday, News Nation had lost half the audience from their debut.
According to Nielsen, News Nation pulled in 133,000 total viewers on night 1.
Night two showed that 100,000 viewers watched the cable newscast.
By night three, that number dropped to 61,000 viewers, more than half from the first night.
Yeah Scott, but you’re talking total viewers, you know that in TV news the only thing that counts are the demos.
OK, let’s look at those.
Again, according to Nielsen, News Nation pulled in 34,000 in the demo on night one. On night three, the demo fell to just 12,000.
Yes, it takes time to grow an audience, but Nexstar suits have to be concerned with such drop off. It basically shows that the people that tuned in, didn’t care enough to come back.
