Testing Positive in Chicago

Sources at NBC’s WMAQ tell FTVLive that at least one of the news staffer has tested positive for COVID and there is a concern there might be more.

The station assigned a Reporter and Photographer to cover a radio show by Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas called Black Houses Matter.

After the crew did the story, sources say the station received a call from the radio station that a person there had tested positive for the virus.

after the call came to WMAQ, an insider says that “management from the station said due to what they assess as low risk it will be business as usual. The insider added, “people at WMAQ understandably concerned.”

Sources tell FTVLive that one of those that worked on the crew that day asked the station to pony up so they could get tested for COVD and was told that it was deemed to be low risk.

Insiders tell FTVLive that the staffer got tested on their own and turned out to be positive. But between the time from the exposure to the test result, the “continued to use vehicle and gear, and now other Reporters and Photographers have been exposed,” said an insider.

While staffers said they were concerned, insiders claim that both management and the union were not providing the leadership they felt was needed.

after the one staffer’s positive test for COVID-19 came back, a memo finally went out to the staff from GM David Doebler.

FTVLive has obtained a very blurry copy:

Sources say that since that memo went out, another person that was working on the same story has also tested positive for the rona.

Word is there could be more.

Stay tuned….
