Meredith’s CEO Tom Harty claims that the company is under a hiring freeze and yet we still see Meredith stations hiring.

This is the internal memo that went out to the staff at Meredith’s WGCL in Atlanta:

Wait! A Part Time Planning Producer?

Doesn’t exactly sound like an essential job at the station.

As one station insider said to FTVLive, “Meredith has continued to hire people through the "hiring freeze". Some of that has been approved by company leaders to ensure newsrooms fill vital roles.”

Yet, sources say that this position wasn’t even posted and it would hardly be what would be described as an “essential” job.

“We still have major roles going unfilled (assistant news director, numerous producer and reporter positions) and yet this gets fast tracked?” said one station staffer to FTVLive.
