Back on August 19, FTVLive told you that WTTG (DC) had posted an Anchor opening.

The job posting was to replace the position of longtime DC anchor Allison Seymour, who insiders say was pushed out and signed an NDA so she could not talk about it.

In the Patron only story, FTVLive wrote this:

Sources tell FTVLive that WTTG General Manager Patrick Paolini and News Director Paul McGonagle are in search of a Black female for the job. One station insider tells FTVLive that “management seems to think if they replace Allison (who is Black) with another Black female, it won’t make them look so bad for pushing Allison out.” 

We’re not sure if the viewers will buy that, but we are willing to bet that the new hire will be younger and cheaper than Seymour. 

Well, guess what?

The Firm station has found its replacement and there is an interesting twist.

The station has hired Marissa Mitchell (right) from sister station WAGA in Atlanta.

But here is what is interesting, Mitchell posted on her Facebook page back on February 19th that she was leaving the Fox O&O in Atlanta.

Now, you may remember that at the end of February, the COVID-19 pandemic was just taking hold here in the U.S. and it surely would have been a strange time to quit your job.

But, you must ask, did Mitchell have the job locked up at WTTG when she walked in The A-T-L. One would assume that she did.

That means WTTG’s job posting for an Anchor gig was a moot point, other than to fulfill EEOC guidelines.

Also, it appears that the station was looking for Seymour’s replacement back in the Winter.

Many inside and outside the Fox station believe that the station did Allison Seymour wrong. And of course, getting her to sign an NDA means she can’t talk about what went down at the station.

In the meantime, Marissa Mitchell, the younger and less expensive replacement comes to DC to start her new job.

We just hope that she knows what she’s in for.
