Renomination of Trump to be Held in Private
Well, that blows a hole in many stations and networks convention plans.
Yesterday, word leaked out that the GOP was looking to keep the press away and that the RNC’s convention would do the renomination of Donald Trump in private.
The vote to renominate Trump is set to be done in private, without the media present. According to a spokeswoman for the Republican National Convention, the reason for keeping this private is due to coronavirus concerns.
Trump and the RNC tried to move the event to Jacksonville, FL after Charlotte voiced their concerns about staging the convention. Trump wanted to bring it to Florida, where people would be free to gather in large numbers and do so without masks.
Then the rona started spreading all over Florida and a record rate and Trump announced that the RNC in Jacksonville would be canceled.
Now, citing COVID concerns the press is being held out of the nominating process for the first time in modern history.
Conventions don’t often break news and they are used more for a platform by political parties to seek attention and use the event to spread their message to as many voters as possible.
Now, the media is being told, they will be locked out of the nominating process, because of COVID-19 concerns.
So, in other words, the GOP and the President say that the renomination will be private due to the rona, but teachers and kids are still expected to head back to school.
Sounds about right.
