BREAKING! Seattle News Director Up and Quits After Barely a Year on the Job
An internal memo went out to the staff at KIRO the Cox station in Seattle informing them that they News Director was basically giving up.
John LaPorte came to the Seattle station just over a year ago and it has been a rocky ride. Sources tell FTVLive that his battle with the SAG/AFTRA union has not been good for him. “He always seemed stressed,” said one station insider to FTVLive.
LaPorte is headed back to Wisconsin to take the Deuce job at WDJT.

Good morning everyone,KIRO News Director John LaPorte has tendered his resignation and will be relocating back to Wisconsin in early September. John has accepted a new position as Assistant News Director of WDJT TV, the Weigel Broadcasting Owned CBS Affiliate in Milwaukee. Please join me in thanking John for his hard work and contributions to our newsroom this past year. John’s last date here with KIRO will be Friday, September 4, 2020.
We will begin the recruitment process immediately and please direct any potential candidates to me for consideration.
