Masking Up at Nexstar (Update)

The staff at Nexstar’s WXIN (Indianapolis)are being told that they must now wear a mask inside the station.

Here is the memo sent to the staff and obtained by FTVLive:

It appears that Dom doesn’t like the fact that he has to wear a mask, so he has made an exception for people sitting in their office at the station.

But, here’s the deal with that. According to the World Health Organization, the coronavirus floats in air as aerosol. That means, if someone walks into Mancuso’s office (or someone else’s) the virus can be lingering in the air.

Maybe it would be a better idea to just wear the mask at work all the time and not make special rules for those at the station that have their own office.

Just saying…

Updated: Mancuso, who in our opinion is one of the most arrogant people in the business, emailed FTVLive to say that the county rules state that individuals who are alone in an office are not required to wear a mask.

OK, we will retract the statement that Dom doesn’t want to wear the mask. Then again, I’m not sure anyone wants to wear a mask. I do it every day, I don’t like it, but I do it.

Again, my point is that as the GM (or a News Director) of a TV station, people walk into your office all the time. Unless you’re just a manager that hides from your staff.

Just because the local health department says you don’t have to wear a mask, why not make the rule that everyone should at all times in the station? The exception would be for people live on the air during the news.

If you are making the people in the newsroom wear a mask at all times, don’t you think it would be best if the managers (you know, the ones with offices) do the same?

Just asking….
