Tegna’s WGRZ (Buffalo) has filled one of their two open sports positions.

The station has hired Ashley Holder as their new Weekend Sports Anchor and Reporter.

Holder has been a sports anchor and reporter in Charlotte, N.C., Medford, Ore., and St. Joseph, Mo., and most recently worked as a sports reporter for the CBS Sports Network on college basketball and college football coverage.

In Charlotte, she worked at the CW affiliate WCCB.

Holder played basketball and Maryville College in Tennessee, before transferring to the University of Tennessee to study broadcasting.

WGRZ Sports Director Adam Benigni has been the station’s only member of the sports team since Stu Boyar retired a month ago and Heather Prusak crossed the street to work at Nexstar’s WIVB.

Then again, it’s not like there has been much sports to cover.
