The White Out in OKC
Stations hate the fact that FTVLive has been calling them out for years for their lack of diversity with their talent.
But, we will point out that there is a real easy way to stop us from doing that.
Hire more people of color.
Let’s look at the Oklahoma City Market and see how the stations are doing there.
Looking at Nexstar’s KFOR, we don’t see a single black person in their online bios.
Not One!
Let’s look at Griffin’s KWTV and it is also lacking in black faces. They do list and show Joseph Holloway, who is black, but you click on his bio and you see that he actually works out of KOTV in Tulsa, which is a sister station.
How bad is it when you have to pull the lone black person on your page in from another market?
Looking at Hearst owned KOCO and finally, you see a station with diversity. The station has two black anchors and a few black Reporters as well.
This Hearst station shows that having an on-air diverse staff is possible.
KOKH is the Sinclair station and in this case, it is good to see this station also shows more diversity with their on-air staff.
FTVLive will continue looking at different markets and having this difficult conversation until changes are made.
