Some sad news out of KTVO in Ottumwa, Iowa.

The station announced that their Assistant News Director Andy Grove passed away suddenly.

“Andy was always straightforward and to the point, and that’s what I loved most about him,” said KTVO’s Good Morning Heartland Anchor Ela Soroka. “No matter what, he pushed you to be your very best.”

“He was so proud of this staff,” KTVO General Manager Carol Kellum added. “I can’t say that enough, your success was his success.”

Staffers say that Grove believed in them, even if others did not.

“He often joked that he pulled my resume from the ‘reject pile,’” said KTVO Senior Reporter Ashley Hoak. “For nearly seven years, Andy shared his knowledge, tools and resources to help me become the reporter that I am today.”

The station did not say how he died.
