Anchor Quits Citing a Difference of Opinion with the Station's Coverage of Racial Tensions

KBMT (Beaumont, Texas) Weekend meteorologist James Brown has quit the Tegna station citing a difference of opinion with the station on their coverage of racial tensions.

“I will not go into detail of my resigning, as not to get ‘caught up’ in this revolution or whatever you want to call it,” he said in his letter of resignation, which was shared by local media personality Kevin Steele. “My opinion does not make any difference to anyone but me, however, I still believe … Red, Yellow, Black, and White, we are precious in His sight. Adding fuel to a fire that is out of control is not in me to associate with.”

Brown says that the station’s recent coverage is imbalanced and lacking in context. Brown said its just “adding hatred” to the emotionally charged stories. “It’s just wrong,” said Brown after indicating he believes only part of the story is being told.

He thinks that the context is not being provided and that bias is creeping in.

The meteorologist told news management in his resignation letter that he would not participate in “this injustice to my beliefs as a Christian, and proud American.”

“I support the Constitution and I pledged allegiance to our flag many years ago. I still stand firm,” he said in his resignation letter.

He says that he is quitting and says that God will provide for him.
