The 2nd Worst TV Group During the Pandemic and Protests
It was so close for this group, they almost locked the top spot on the worst list, but they will have to settle for being the second worst TV ownership group to emerge during the pandemic and protests.
We were barely into the COVID-19 pandemic here in the United States and Tegna quickly issued company-wide furloughs to their staff.
Word of the furloughs came down in early April and even here on June 16th, there are Tegna employees on furlough this week.
We were barely into the coronavirus pandemic and Tegna was the very first to start making cuts to employees’ pay. You would have hoped that the company would have looked for more ways to save some coin before chopping pay.
And, while Tegna had employees on furlough, they were spending millions of dollars buying ads on the internet and other places all geared, not at the viewers, but shareholders in Tegna. The same executive board that was cutting employees’ pay, was placing ads so they could keep their job.
Then the protests happened and you saw Tegna news employees both covering the protests and marching in the protests. So much for objectivity.
It is sad to see a company with so much potential just flounder due to management that acts more like the gang that can’t shoot straight.
Check back the next hour to see which company came in the deuce spot on the good list.
