Chopper Down

On Friday, FTVLive told you that Jerry Ferguson was leaving Meredith’s KPHO/KTVK as a chopper reporter.

We wondered if that meant that the Meredith station was grounding their chopper for the Phoenix area?

The answer is yes.

Here is the internal email that went out to the staff and was obtained by FTVLive.

These conditions have driven us to make some tough decisions locally and I wanted to address one of those decisions specifically with all of you. On April 30th 2020 we will end our partnership with Bruce Haffner and the Lyons Roofing Chopper. This is a decision that does not come easily as Bruce has been a member of Arizona’s Family for three decades, first as a member of our news department and for the past few years as a valued partner as a private business owner. While we value both the history and the work that Bruce and his team has put forth, we can’t justify the cost of keeping the chopper in the air especially in the economic climate we currently find ourselves in. Bruce has served Arizona’s Family for more than 30 years and I can’t thank him enough for all that he has done for our operation during that time.

None of this is easy, I certainly understand that but I know we will get through this together.

Yes, we will get through this together, some of you won’t have jobs, all of you will have your pay chopped, but we will get through this together.

BTW- Is there a more stupid name than the “Lyons Roofing Chopper.”
