The Inbox....
Today on the Inbox, a TV newsie weighs in on what is happening at CBS News and what they can do to right the ship.
here is their take:
Stacey Benson was just named CFO of CBS News and it would be smart if the move is to court Shepard Smith to helm CBS This Evening news given that it would mostly be financial. The only talent move Susan made that was right was Mason on CTM. Mason should've been Rose's successor, and O'Donnell should still be on CTM as the ratings are closer in the morning for them than at night. The same with FTN, John Dickerson should've been moved back to that role to shore up ratings. Susan's focus should be ctm and ftn first to secure ratings in 1st and second place then work on finding a way to get Smith on CBS EN and get CBS to pay it out.
The longer she waits to make these changes, the worst it's going to get. David Begnaud should be their weekend evening anchor. O'Donnell could rejoin CTM from DC as it's the perfect time with covid remotes to make it look normal without being a failure. The all women anchors is commendable, but it's not working with the weight of the uphill climb that they have. They would have to open the check book and hire someone well known and respected to take on abc news and muir. Smith is it and liked my both political camps as well.
