Former Boston Reporter Resurfacing in Miami

Back in November, FTVLive told you that NBC 10 parted ways with solid Reporter Karen Hensel. She wasn’t let go for the job she was doing, it was because of who she was dating.

Hensel and the station parted ways after an anonymous person told management at the NBC O&O that she was dating a local police chief.

Should a station be able to let you go because you are dating someone? It seems that the Boston station thought they could and they did just that.

Hensel took the high road in the incident and now she is taking I-95 south and headed to Miami.

WSVN has hired the top-notch Reporter and she will begin her gig on July 1st.

Here is the internal memo sent to the staff from WSVN VP of News Alice Jacobs and obtained by FTVLive:

I'm pleased to announce the hiring of a new investigative reporter.

Karen Hensel is a national Peabody and Emmy award-winning journalist who has spent her career in Indianapolis and Boston. She brings a wealth of experience to 7 News and will be a great addition to our already strong Special Projects unit. Karen has covered investigations all over the world, including stories about U.S. troops in Baghdad, Balad and Fallujah in Iraq.

While in Iraq, she documented concerns about traumatic brain injuries caused by roadside bombs. Karen's report prompted the Marines to issue protective helmet padding.

Karen's first day is July 1.
