Ratings are Up, Ads are Down
FTVLive is seeing a huge surge in people coming to the site, but our syndicated ads are way down. The same thing is happening with TV stations around the country.
Many stations are seeing a big spike in viewership, but advertising is down across the board.
“We have more viewers than ever, but advertisers are unfortunately stuck in the same economic boat as many of us,” said Patrick McCreery, president of Meredith Corp.
FTVLive talked to a GM on the East coast who said that the station has cut back on commercial spots because he just doesn’t have the inventory to fill them.
“I’m not going to run a two-minute break of just promos,” the GM said.
Our belief at FTVLive is this is a time that companies should continue to keep their name in front of the public. Right now, people are watching more TV and TV news than they have in years. It’s a great chance to get your company brand in front of more people.
Even if your business is not open or pulled way back, produce a spot with a message to viewers to stay inside, or another tip. Make a spot about we’re all in this together. Keep your brand out there even if you are not currently operating.
This is a great time to advertise, you will likely get the ad spot at a great price and you continue to keep your brand in front of people that will see it.
