Sinclair CEO Joins Trump in Pimping Drug

While many medical people are still saying there needs to be widespread testing to see if hydroxychloroquine plus zinc can help people fight off the coronavirus, President Trump has been all in on hydroxychloroquine remedy.

Medical professionals surely hope that this will help, along with everyone else, but most agree there needs to be more testing done.

But, since Trump says it works that seems to be enough for Sinclair Broadcasting CEO Chris Ripley, who writes in a memo to the staff:

“On the good news front, there is a growing medical consensus (lack of large-scale trials aside) that hydroxychloroquine plus zinc and azithromycin is an effective treatment for the virus and is believed to materially impact patient outcomes. These drugs have been around and widely used for decades so their side effects are minimal and well know, and production can be scaled quickly. It is my hope that every hospital in the country will make this a standard protocol and dramatically reduce the deaths that may occur in the weeks to come. However, please do not abandon your social distancing as avoidance of contracting the virus, for you or for others you may unwittingly infect, is still the most effective strategy.”

I hope that this drug works, I really do, but I’m not sure Ripley should be pushing his Trump talking points onto his staff.

As for side effects, the FDA website says there are some and are still advising against taking the drug.

But then again, what does the FDA know, Trump says it’s fine.

Just saying…
