I get the part of the tweet where she is trying to curb panic buying by people.

But, she also seems to be downplaying the coronavirus which is a bit reckless. First off, right now the mortality rate of the coronavirus is closer to 3% right now and not 1%.

Now, because many more people likely have the virus than are confirmed to have the virus, that 3% number will likely come down and it will fall somewhere around 1%.

But, even if it is at 1%, it is still 10 times more deadly than the flu which kills about .01% of people that get it.

Viewers are looking to the local media to give them the correct information. Make sure you do so! Also, downplaying the coronavirus and saying it is “like the flu” is putting you in Sean Hannity territory.

Is that where you really want to be?
