A couple of days ago, FTVLive posted the story about radio legend Rush Limbaugh and about him announcing that he has advanced lung cancer.

We wrote about how some people were saying that this was “karma” for things that he has said. FTVLive wrote, “I really don’t care if you are on the right or the left, the idea that you are applauding someone being sick and possibly dying is disgusting.”

After our post, we got this email from a woman named Gloria, who wrote:

Really? Do you have any idea the terrible, racist and misogynistic things he’s said? Do some research about the man you’re defending.

Just because he’s revered as a traditional media titan doesn’t mean he should be given a free pass on his vile commentary over the years. It isn’t about being left or right on the political spectrum. I wouldn’t express joy toward anybody’s terminal illness just because I disagree with them.

This, my friend, is different. Please get out of this establishment echo chamber.

I really thought you were sharper than this. I guess not.

First off, I was not defending Rush Limbaugh by any means. I have hated some of the things that this man has said and I hate the fact that he is one of those that seems to take joy out of dividing our country.

But, while I may hate the things the man says or stand for, I don’t wish cancer on him or anyone else. I might hate Sean Hannity and all he stands for, but I don’t want to see him dead. I might hate Don Lemon and the job he does, but again, I would never want to see the guy go through a cancer fight.

The one thing I will point out, in announcing his cancer and his fight against it, Limbaugh says that he has put together a top notch medical team of some of the top doctors in the country. Rush Limbaugh is an extremely rich man and he can afford this kind of care.

I also know a single mom that is battling cancer and can’t afford top notch care. She is tuck with basic care and being given second class drugs in her fight.

Is that fair?

Does she deserve the same care and the same chance to survive as Rush Limbaugh?

I think she does, but she is clearly not getting that chance.

But, then again, maybe like you said, I’m not that sharp.
