A Filler Between Political Ads
As the political ad season moves into full swing, TV stations are doing what they can to help separate politicians from their money.
WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids) has decided to add another newscasts on the weekend to do just that.
The station has started airing a new weekend morning newscast on sister station WOTV starting at 9AM on Saturdays.
Weekend morning Anchor Donavan Long is thrilled! “I am thrilled to broadcast for another hour on Saturday, as it is a pleasure to wake up with our West Michigan viewers every weekend,” Long said. “Their unwavering support is the only caffeine I need to get my day started at 2:30 in the morning. Emily and I are grateful for the viewers who invite us into their homes. Cheers to more time with the people we love!”
This will give the station sales department more spots to sell political while the station doesn’t have to add anymore people to do the news.
In other words, the new newscast is just filler between the ads.
Is this a great business or what?
