Should be at Least a 10 Point pop in the Ratings
Stations have done it for years with hopes that it will give them a big boost in the ratings.
Look at almost any TV station that makes a change to their graphics package and you will see, they always debut the new look just before a rating book. It’s like they really think that changing the colors on their over the shoulder graphic is going to boost the numbers.
This is never the case, but it does not stop stations from trying it.
The latest to do so is Scripps owned WCPO in Cincinnati.
The new-look is such a big deal, their former News Director Chip Mahaney sent congrats to the entire team.
Here is a video showcasing the new look and brand. It should be worth at least a 10 point pop in the ratings.
