Fly Robin Fly...

Variety did a story on FTVLive favorite Robin Meade the Anchor of Morning Express on HLN.

Meade has been anchoring the show without fanfare and little promotion for years and yet it is one of the most successful shows inside the CNN family.

HLN has basically given up on doing news except for the morning and Meade’s show has been expanded time and time again.

FTVLive worked with Robin Meade in the past and watching her grow into a force and have so much confidence is awesome to see.

Meade says that doing it her way is what has helped her make in a business that at times can be soul-crushing.

“When I was coming up the ranks, I just wanted to be successful so badly that if a consultant said, ‘Your laugh is a little much,’ then I would never laugh. ‘Your hair is a bit all over the place.’ I would cut that off.” Over the years, however, “I realized I’m not perfect. I don’t dress like everyone else. My hair is too long, but I like it. And I might laugh on air. But there’s just a level of acceptance that the viewers feel.”

Meade says she’s very cognizant of what her audience wants to know about – and doesn’t. “The old cereal test is still our filter,” she says. “If I’m going to make you spit out your cereal…maybe I don’t need all the details about how someone was stabbed 26 times.”

I have said it for decades here on FTVLive, Robin Meade is the best person I have ever worked with both on-air and off.

She really is as nice as she seems and there is not an once of Anchor ego in her at all.

While CNN boss Jeff Zucker has poured millions and millions of dollars into his morning show on CNN and blown up the talent so many times, we’ve lost count, he could have just moved Robin Meade over to CNN.

She would have instantly upped the rantings, made Zucker look like a genius and saved CNN a lot of money.

But, we have a feeling that Robin Meade is just as happy at HLN and she is doing her job the way she wants to do it.

You see, sometimes the nice guy/gal does finish first.
