Joe Biden wasn’t the only big winner a week ago in the election, so was a former News Director.

Julie Akins was the ND of KOBI in Medford and after leaving TV news, she made a run to be the Mayor of Ashland, Oregon.

And she did it!

Akins defeated opponent Tonya Graham by roughly 600 votes in a tight race for mayor gig.

Atkins was on the Ashland City Council before making her mayoral run.

Akins said she feels humbled, responsible and grateful for the outcome. “My door is open; my heart is warm,” Akins said.

Wait! That doesn’t sound like a News Director….does it?
