Security Guard Hired by Tegna station In Custody For Killing Protestor
Tegna’s KUSA posted the news that a security guard is being held by police for shooting and killing a man at a protest.
The security guard was working for KUSA at the time of the shooting.
The Tegna station says that along with arresting the security guard a KUSA Producer was also taken into custody after the incident.
“The producer is no longer in police custody and is not a suspect,” KUSA said on their website, while not naming the Producer.
“It has been the practice of 9NEWS for a number of months to contract private security to accompany staff at protests,” the station said on their website.
The "Patriot Rally" was set for 2 p.m. The participants planned to meet earlier Saturday at several locations around the Denver metro area and drive to the park next to the state Capitol. A counter-protest "BLM-Antifa Soup Drive" was planned to start at 1:30 p.m. at Civic Center to "drown out" the rally.
Denver PD says that the shooting occurred beneath a city police surveillance camera and police confirmed they have footage of what happened.
