Fire Rips Through Hearst Station

A fire broke out at Hearst owned KCRA in Sacramento.

Sources tell FTVLive that the blaze was in an area of the building that is mostly abandoned and mainly used for storage.

The area that burned used to be the promotions offices. It is referred to by employees as "The old part of the building."

On the exterior of that side of the building (which used to be the front entrance an old vintage KCRA sign still exists and was not damaged by the fire.

On a side note, sources tell FTVLive that a number of employees have tried to have the vintage sign taken down off of the building so that it can be preserved in a safer place for historical purposes.

But they have been repeatedly told, "It's not in the budget."

As TV news people have learned, when it comes to doing something cool, it’s never in the budget.

Just saying….
