One of the things that drive many people crazy inside Nexstar’s KDVR/KWG (Denver) is the fact that General Manager Joan Barrett and News Director Brian Gregory both came from KWCH in Wichita, Kansas and act if that is the news mecca.

Many times when there is a job opening, the job is filled with another person from Wichita. “The station is the is full of Kansas people,” said one insider to FTVLive.

Denver is a top 20 market and Wichita is a 70 something. Many feel that filling your station with small market people is hurting the morale and the product.

But this week took the cake, according to one station insider.

The TV consultant from SmithGeiger was in town showing the KDVR/KWGN staff examples of news stories and how they should cover the news.

Yep, it’s KWCH in Wichita.
