Yesterday, Tegna’s WUSA sent out an announcement to the media saying that former WTTG Anchor Tony Perkins would be joining the station for a six-week engagement.

Tegna and WUSA did not send the press release to FTVLive, mainly because we FIRST broke that very same story weeks ago.

The same time the release was sent out, was the same time that an email went out to the WUSA staff, telling them what they already knew thanks to FTVLive.

Not sure about the staff, but Station Manager Michael Valentine is thrilled, “All of us at WUSA9 and ‘Get Up DC!’ are thrilled to welcome Tony to the team,” Valentine said.

As for Perkins, he’s also thrilled,” I’m THRILLED to reunite with my friend and former co-anchor, Annie Yu. This is going to be great!” said Perkins.

The station said that Perkins is being hired as part of a six-week engagement, which makes it sound like he’s playing the back lounge at The Wynn in Las Vegas.

Of course, over a week ago, FTVLive FIRST told you that Perkins was joining WUSA for just a short stint.

WUSA calls it an “engagement,” FTVLive called it what it really was, a Sweeps Stunt.
