When I was at RTDNA/NAHJ in San Antonio, I had separate conversations with Tegna boss Patti Dennis, Meredith VP Gary Brown and a couple of people from Fox Television.

I pointed out that when I was in Atlanta for AAJA that I went to Korea town and was blown away at how big it was. I was told that there was hundreds of thousands of Koreans that lived in the Atlanta area. That was just Koreans and did not count Chinese, Japanese and other Asian Americans. Yet, while watching the news in Atlanta, i failed to see a single Asian American on the air in the market.

Well, I am happy to report that is going to change.

KOLD (Tucson) Reporter Janice Yu posted to her social media that she is headed to Fox owned WAGA in Atlanta. Here is her post:

Back in May, FTVLive wrote, “Tucson Reporter Janice Yu remains at the station. But, one can wonder for how long before she is snatched up by a bigger market?”

The answer was 4 months and a big tip of the cap to WAGA for making a hire that the market needed.

Let’s hope it is not the Yu is not the last Asian we see on Atlanta TV news.
