For the news crews on the East coast of Florida covering the hurricane the last couple of weeks it made for long days in the newsroom.

With Dorian spinning in the Atlantic for days, crews were asked to work long hours keeping viewers informed on the storm.

In the end, Dorian did not impact Florida nearly as bad as it was first expected (nor did it hit Alabama).

The people working at Tegna’s duop in Jacksonville will working 12 hours on and 12 hours off as the storm seemed to be heading our way.

For hourly employees, that meant putting a lot of overtime in the bank. But, for the salaried employees, it was long hours with no extra money.

First Coast News Executive Producer Mike Massey did put out a memo that said the salary people would get a comp day for all their hard work.

Many worked much longer hours than a single comp day, but this is what they got.
