Trying to Put The Toothpaste Back in the Tube
KTRK (Houston) was doing a story about how police detained Georgia Southern football player Shai Werts for having suspected cocaine on the hood of his car.
It turned out to be bird poop. Of course, you have wonder if Werts was a white star quarterback and not black, if the cops would have acted the same way?
Werts was not charged in the incident.
Coming out of the story, KTRK Meteorologist Collin Meyers says that he didn’t “blame the cops”for their actions. Some on Twitter called Meyers out for his comments.
It was then that Meyers tried to put the toothpaste back in the tube:
While Meyers was going for laughs, this is not funny to anyone in the black community that are pulled over for no other crimes other than driving while black.
I don’t think there is anyway that this kid would have been detained if he was white.
Just saying….
Also, let’s hope the bosses at KTRK explain to Meyers why this wasn’t funny and why he might want to just stick to the weather.
