Still No Deal
Nexstar continues its pissing match with DirecTV…
Customers of DirecTV still can not see the 100+ Nexstar stations on the satellite as the two corporate giants fight over your money.
This is all happening as Nexstar is trying to win government approval to gobble up the Tribune stations and grow even bigger.
Cable and satellite companies point exactly as to what is happening and why the deal should not go through. If Nexstar gets the Tribune stations, it will give them even more leverage when dealing with cable/satellite companies over retransmission deals.
In San Francisco, CBS owned KPIX did a story about Nexstar’s KRON not being available on DirecTV and it is one of the most read stories on the station’s website.
In the end, the two sides will agree to a new deal, they will not discuss the details and a few months later, customers will see their bill raise even more.
TV stations and networks look at retrans as the goose laying the golden egg.
But, their greed is killing the goose and the stations are not smart enough to see it happening.
Yet, they wonder why viewers are cutting the cord at a record pace?
