The Nexstar/Tribune Deal is This/Close to Done
Sources tell FTVLive that the Nexstar deal to gobble up the Tribune stations is very close to being approved and a done deal.
“I think it could happen any day,” said a Nexstar manager to FTVLive.
Nexstar moved in to purchase the Tribune stations after Sinclair’s deal to do so was torpedoed by the FCC after they say that Sinclair was not upfront with the federal agency.
Now, it appears Nexstar is going to takeover the Tribune stations, but don’t be surprised if some of those stations are not quickly spun off.
FTVLive reported FIRST and EXCLUSIVELY that Nexstar is likely to sell KCPQ (Seattle) to Fox Television after the deal closes.
KCPQ is one of the stations that Fox has been very interested in and had planned on buying the station from Sinclair, when they were the proposed buyer of the Tribune stations.
Word is that Fox also has its eyes on KDVR Denver and WJW Cleveland, two other Tribune stations that Nexstar is picking up in the deal.
So, while the deal might go through, some stations could be in for more months of uncertainty about their owner.
