The staff at Nexstar’s WFLA in Tampa got a very brief memo saying that News Director Ryan Minnaugh is gone from the station “effective immediately.”

No word what happened, but this has caught most of the newsroom staff off guard.

Minnaugh has been at the station just barely over a year.

This is the internal memo that went out to the staff from WFLA GM Skip Valet and obtained by FTVLive:

Team,

I have accepted Ryan Minnaugh’s resignation effective immediately. I appreciate Ryan’s contributions to WFLA-WTTA.

I am beginning the search for our next News Director immediately.
