BREAKING! Lexington Anchor Is now Fired
This breaking news is being posted from my phone, as I’m on the road. But, we felt we needed to post this story.
After FTVLive called attention to the story of WLEX Anchor Lee Cruse, Scripps said they were going to re-evaluate the matter. As we reported earlier this week, management said they decided to suspend Cruse for a week.
FTVLive posted that story and said that Cruse should have been fired for showing his support for a racist and admitting that he does not read his scripts before going on air.
Today the station released this statement:
After careful consideration, WLEX has decided to part ways with Lee Cruse.
WLEX is committed to reflecting our diverse audiences through our coverage and to upholding equitable, diverse and inclusive practices in our workplaces.
We wish Lee the best in his future endeavors.
General Manager Pat Dalbey has released a statement:
This wasn’t a decision made lightly. LEX 18 is committed to reflecting our diverse audiences through our coverage and to upholding equitable, diverse, and inclusive practices in our workplace. We stand by our commitment to a respectful work environment and respect for all of our viewers.
