Reporter's Husband Charged with Domestic Violence

Back in March, FTVLive posted a story about News 12 Hudson Valley Reporter Blaise Gomez. She posted to her social media a very disturbing message.. Gomez said that she was assaulted by her husband and felt that she was going to be killed.

Now, felony domestic violence charges are pending against her husband, in connection with incidents spanning about a year and a half.

An indictment handed up last month charges Sean Doyle, 36, of Cornwall, with 15 counts, including felony counts of second-degree strangulation and second-degree attempted assault. Doyle is free on $75,000 bond following his arraignment April 29 in Orange County Court. He will return to court May 28.

Gomez has been open about her experience, posting an explanation of what happened on her social media accounts. Gomez said she decided to tell her story after people posted Doyle’s mugshot to her timeline, not realizing he was charged with assaulting her. Given her job, she said, it felt hypocritical to stay silent.

Gomez said people have been supportive, and she’s heard from some who say she helped them in their own situations by coming forward.

At Doyle’s arraignment, Senior Assistant District Attorney Michael Milza said that early on March 18, after drinking the previous day and evening, Doyle arrived at the house where Gomez moved with her children in June 2018. There, Milza said, Doyle choked her, punched her repeatedly in the face and threw her into the headboard of her bed so forcefully that the headboard split in half.

“When he grabbed me by the throat, I thought, ‘I’m going to die,’” Gomez said. Doyle only “snapped out of it” after she started screaming and her 9-year-old son, outside the bedroom, pleaded with him to stop, she said.
