It Doesn't Work If You Don't Know Where You Are

ABC 30/40 (Birmingham) Meteorologist James Spann went on a bit of a rant about how people can’t read maps.

He says that he uses maps during severe weather coverage, but many of his viewers can’t read a map and don’t know where they live?

So, in other words, the coverage means nothing to viewers if they can’t figure out where their house is on a map.

He said that 70% of people he met with couldn’t answer his challenge to put a dot within 50 miles of their houses on a map.

So, is breaking into coverage for nasty weather worth it? If 70% can’t find their house on a map, what difference does it make?

Just asking…
