Sands took to the air and said that the medical procedures to stop his brain cancer are not working. In a heartfelt message to viewers, Sands said he is leaving the air and headed to Philadelphia in a last ditch effort to save his life.

He has handled his situation is all the class in the world.

Before he left for Philly, people from all the stations in the Jackson, Mississippi came together to send Mike off with best wishes.
