Tegna, Scripps to Buy Up Nexstar Scraps

Nexstar has found buyers for the stations that they will have to spin off as part of their deal to buy Tribune.

Nexstar has agreed to sell 19 stations in 15 markets and they have two buyers to do so.

Scripps has agreed to buy 8 stations including WPIX in New York. You may remember, FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you (In January) that Nexstar would not be keeping the Big Apple station.

Scripps will also be buying KSTU, the Fox station in Salt Lake City and WXMI in Grand Rapids.

Tegna has agreed to buy 11 stations. They will get WTIC in Hartford, WPMT in Harrisburg, WATN in Memphis, along with some other smaller market stations.

Nexstar is still looking to divest two stations in Indianapolis.

The company is going to make about $1.3 billion off the sale of the station, which will help bring down the $4 billion dollar price tag they are paying for the Tribune stations.

Nexstar CEO Perry Sook is currently traveling the country and visiting the stations the company plans to buy and keep.

Stay tuned…
