Looking to Fill a Big Hole in Raleigh
Back in February, FTVLive told you that WRAL fired their longtime Meteorologist Greg Fishel in the middle of the book over “a personnel matter.”
Now the station is looking to fill the job.
Or are they?
WRAL has posted a job for a Weather Anchor, but the job posting does not say what days or day parts the new meteorologist will work.
Fishel was chief meteorologist and a leading member of WRAL's evening anchor team, generally working Monday to Friday.
“We were intentionally vague in the job posting just to see who’s out there," WRAL GM Joel Davis said. “We’ve got a lot of bench strength here. Mike Maze is really good. Elizabeth Gardner is really good. We have some internal strength," Davis said. “We cast the net far and wide and will compare that to our internal strength.”
Asked if Gardner might move from mornings to evenings, Davis said, "I don't know yet. We’ve got some candidates we’ve got to take a look at. We are just not there yet.”
Not exactly a big vote of confidence, wouldn’t you agree?
Also, it seems like the station is going to end up wasting some people’s time with their vague job posting.
