Longtime WITI main Anchor Brad Hicks has left the station to ….go ahead say it….spend more time with his family.
Hicks has been a nighttime news anchor at WITI for nearly 15 years.
WITI issued a statement late Thursday, saying Hicks had left for family reasons:
"After much deliberation and 30 years anchoring newscasts, Brad Hicks has decided to step away and focus on his family. As many people may know, Brad’s brother and parents in California all face difficult health challenges. We at FOX 6 have known for some time that Brad may need to leave us to help care for these family members. Brad feels that now is the time. Brad has made many contributions to FOX 6 in his over 15 years here. We will miss him and wish him the best."
Attempts to reach Hicks via email and social media were unsuccessful. Hicks has been active on social media in the past, but his posts have been sparse on both Facebook and Twitter since Feb. 6, and none of his posts linked to WITI stories. He has not been on WITI newscasts for several weeks.
Sources tell FTVLive there is more to this story (there always is) and it is much more involved. Hicks bio has been scrubbed from the station’s website.
